What Is A Broadband Modem For And Where Do
I Get A Broadband Modem?
Modem is
short for "modulator/demodulator" and is a device that converts analog data to
digital data and a broadband modem is a device which makes it possible for you to receive
broadband data through your telephone or cable line as it converts the data for you.
As regards where you should get a
broadband modem from, well whilst it is possible to buy your own broadband modem should
you wish to, really this is not much of an issue as nearly all broadband service providers
will provide you with a broadband modem for free (although you may not necessarily own the
broadband modem just have use of it as long as you have a service with them) when they
install your broadband service. This has the advantage that if the broadband modem fails,
you can get your broadband service provider to replace it or fix it usually for free as
the broadband modem is still owned by them and is provided as part of their service.
So when you are shopping around for your
broadband service just check that they definately provide you with a broadband modem as
part of the broadband package they offer. To help you find the right broadband service for
you, we have written reviews of the different broadband providers in the UK which you can
access on the left hand side menu of our website.
