What Is A VOIP Phone Service?
VOIP
stands for "Voice Over Internet Protocol" and is a technology which makes it
possible to make telephone calls over the internet.
VOIP phone services convert normal
telephone speech into packets of data which are transmitted via the internet and then
converted back to speech by VOIP at the receivers end.
VOIP phone services make it possible to
make long distance calls at low rates or if you use a computer-to-computer phone system
such as Skype then you can make free calls, provided you have internet access of course.
When VOIP phone services first came out, there were sound quality issues but things have
improved since the early days of the VOIP phone services, however some calls may not be of
the same sound quality as the traditional phone services as the VOIP phone services do not
have standard quality controls imposed accross the VOIP phone service industry.
VOIP phone services for business users
is starting to off now as VOIP phone services can save businesses money especially if
parts of their business are long distances away.
